Folk-rock royalty returns to Basingstoke! The legendary Fairport Convention will take the stage at The Haymarket on Wednesday 1 April 2026, bringing their timeless sound and infectious energy to fans old and new.

Formed in 1967, Fairport Convention pioneered British folk-rock, blending traditional tunes with electric instrumentation and lyrical storytelling. With a career spanning nearly six decades, they’ve earned a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and a devoted global following. Their groundbreaking album Liege & Lief was voted “Most Influential Folk Album of All Time” by BBC Radio 2 listeners.

The current lineup features:

Simon Nicol – founding member, guitar and vocals

Dave Pegg – bass guitar and vocals

Ric Sanders – violin

Chris Leslie – fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki, vocals

Dave Mattacks – returning on drums

Plus special guest Jenn Butterworth, award-winning Scottish guitarist and singer
