Sh!t-faced Shakespeare at The Haymarket in Basingstoke

Sh!t-faced Shakespeare is a comedy troupe that performs Shakespeare plays with one cast member being drunk on stage. The result is a hilarious and unpredictable show that mixes classical theatre with modern humour .

The troupe was founded in 2010 by Lewis Ironside and Stacey Norris, who were inspired by the Elizabethan tradition of drinking during performances. They started as a fringe show at the Edinburgh Festival, and soon gained popularity and acclaim for their unique and irreverent approach to Shakespeare.

Since then, Sh!t-faced Shakespeare has performed in various venues across the UK, the US, and Australia, and has adapted several of Shakespeare’s plays, such as Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Much Ado About Nothing. The troupe is also known for their audience interaction and improvisation, as well as their use of props, costumes, and music.

Sh!t-faced Shakespeare is a fun and innovative way to enjoy Shakespeare, as long as you don’t mind some swearing, slurring, and silliness
