May's Bounty

Nestled along Bounty Road, just a stone’s throw from the town centre, May’s Bounty is more than just a cricket ground, it’s a living piece of Basingstoke’s sporting soul. With its tree-lined perimeter, compact charm, and vintage pavilion, the ground offers an intimate setting that’s steeped in tradition and buzzing with community spirit.

Originally known as The Folly, the ground was renamed in honour of Lt Col John May, a local brewer and benefactor who purchased the land in 1880 to preserve it for cricket. His gift, his “bounty”, ensured generations of players and fans would have a place to gather, compete, and celebrate the game.
